Many a time we hear about childhood love which slowly grows intense as time passes.Rishi and Neetu were childhood friends who started dating each other at a very young age.
Neetu was only 14 and a debutante in Bollywood whereas Rishi was a famous and established actor in the industry.
He was the chocolate boy of Bollywood and she was the most hyped actress of her time.Together, they made a beautiful love story and set an example that chilldhood love can never die.
Their persona, charm and love truly showed in their on screen roles and they established themselves as evergreen actors from the 1970’s.
The Beginning

One was a well-established actor and his future fiancé was just starting to create a name for herself in the industry. Rishi was a total prankster and that funny yet mischievous guy who almost always was ready to pull her leg.
He would tease and irritate her and spoil her makeup after she got ready.
It was not love at first sight, but a cute and adorable love story which made way for that eternal love.She fell in love with the guy who irritated her the most and her wish came true when he too fell for her.
When love happens, opposition starts and the same happened with them too.Neetu’s mother did not really approve of her young and underage daughter dating this successful and older superstar .She sent Neetu’s cousin with them on dates to ensure that their relationship would not become public.
Rishi was initially commitment phobic and thought that marriage was a risky decision.
The dramatic and unexpected wedding

Five years post dating they finally got married after much real -life drama. Rishi Kapoor’s sister got them engaged in a very private and hush hush ceremony. Rishi Kapoor had gone to Delhi to attend a friend’s wedding and his sister had secretly invited both the families for the event.
The families of Neetu and Rishi played he match makers and decided to get them engaged at this golden opportunity. Rishi Kapoor did not even have a ring to give to Neetu, so he took his sister’s ring and gave it to her. Meanwhile, the director of Rishi Kapoor’s film Jhootha Kahin Ka, gave his ring to Neetu and she gave it it to Rishi Kapoor to seal their love forever.
Rajee,Neetu’s mother was overwhelmed with joy but was also sad to see her only daughter go away so soon.Rishi stepped in and invited her to live with them after marriage, thus winning over Rajee and Neetu completely.
The controversies

This wonderful tale of love had its own share of ups and downs. Media attention shifted to Neetu’s career post marriage when she decided to quit the industry for good. The Kapoor family was known to be very patriarchal and a Kapoor bahu was expected to leave the industry and become a homemaker. Rumours were rife that Neetu was forced into an early retirement from her successful career by her in-laws and husband. She cleared the airs by confirming that it was her wilful decision to quit Bollywood and stay at home.
In the late 1990’s, the rumour mills again started churning out news of trouble in their paradise.Many of the insiders of the industry claimed that Rishi was turning into an alcoholic. Some even claimed that they had divorced and also filed a case against Rishi. However, she put the rumour mills to rest by returning to her in-laws and taking care of her husband and their children.
Love so strong

Every relationship faces ecstatic controversies and difficulties but it is only the strongest which come out of them untouched. Same was the case with Neetu and Rishi’s unique marriage.The couple came out of all these problems unscathed and supported each other through the highs and lows of their widely publicised life.
Neetu recently said in an interview, “There always comes a phase in a couple’s life when there would be friction, disagreements. Rishi and I also went through that stage. It was just one of those problems, which only the husband and wife would understand. Fortunately, we were able to sort out our differences. Today, everything is forgotten.”
It is always sensible to sort out any differences, hold on together and fall in love again to prevent any complexities in marriage since it is a marriage of two families and many delicate relationships.
